The plot was uncovered on January 2003, when a police raid on a north London apartment netted what was described as a "poison factory".

Remarkably, after 5 months, WHO has not been able to prove or refute the data at GenBank. Moreover, they have elected to stop trying. Thus, if the data is correct, the virus is circulating in pigs and there is no explanation on how the virus moved from a lab to many pigs on many pig farms in Korea. If the data is incorrect, then how the data was generated will remain unknown, and there will be no full data set on the H9N2 genes. WHO has indicated that they will continue to look for the H9N2, but consider the WSN/33 sequences to be due to lab error.
In view of the consequences of WSN/33 circulating in humans, it would seem that WHO should conduct its future efforts with more urgency, rather than treating important research as a curiosity.

GM stock dropped to its lowest level in a decade after company executives pleaded with union leaders for help in controlling health care costs. GM stock lost almost 6 percent, falling $1.67 a share to $26.66.

If you lie, you get rich. If you tell the truth, you stay poor.
Take a look around and smell the sewage. Do you dare disagree?
Which kind of world do you want? And if you think this one is so great, have you considered where your money has gone?
During the past twenty years, trillions of dollars have been illegally vacuumed out of that magnificent cash cow known as the American economy. The Bush family engineered Savings & Loan fire sale, the Bush family engineered 9/11 deception, the Bush family engineered Iraq war. In each case, and so many others, so much money has simply disappeared into the black hole of subterranean financial shenanigans that it's a wonder America is still afloat (if it actually is as you read this).
I don't want to blame the Bushes for everything; they just happened to have been involved in all the great financial crimes of the 20th century, from Samuel Walker in World War I to Prescott Bush in WW II and on down to the present crop of crooks. And it's important to remember the Clintons, among many others, are members of the Bush crime family. But anyway, even with their billions, the Bushes only work for the people with the real money.

There is a huge propaganda push by the nuclear industry to justify nuclear power as a panacea for the reduction of global-warming gases.
In fact, Leslie Kemeny on these pages two weeks ago (HES, March 30) suggested that courses on nuclear science and engineering be included in tertiary level institutions in Australia.
I agree. But I would suggest that all the relevant facts be taught to students. Mandatory courses in medical schools should embrace the short and long-term biological, genetic and medical dangers associated with the nuclear fuel cycle. Business students should examine the true costs associated with the production of nuclear power. Engineering students should become familiar with the profound problems associated with the storage of long-lived radioactive waste, the human fallibilities that have created the most serious nuclear accidents in history and the ongoing history of near-misses and near-meltdowns in the industry.

[Strange to read one day that polio vaccines might have contaminated people with AIDS, then read the next day that polio might have been cured without vaccines at all.]
Imagine that a deadly virus is sweeping the world, killing and maiming hundreds of thousands of children. Nothing seems able to stop it - until a doctor stands up at the American Medical Association and reports on 60 cases involving severely infected children, all of whom have been cured. Yet his work, subsequently reported in a peer-review journal, is ignored, leaving the virus to wreak havoc for decades.
This isn't a docudrama about some futuristic plague - it's a true story about what happened in June 1949 when polio was at its peak. Dr Frederick Klenner, a clinical researcher from Reidsville, North Carolina, reported that a massive intravenous dose of Vitamin C - up to 20,000mg daily for three days (today's recommended daily allowance is 60mg) - had cured 60 of his patients. The findings were published in a medical journal, yet there was virtually no interest. Apart from a couple of minor trials, no attempt was made to find out if they had any scientific substance.
Relating this curious incident in a new book, Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases & Toxins: Curing the Incurable, Dr Thomas Levy, a US cardiologist, admits to being gripped by a range of emotions when he came across Klenner's work and other studies that replicated it. "To know that polio had been easily cured yet so many people continued to die, or survived to be permanently crippled by it, was difficult to accept."

"All across America, rivers link one town's toilets to the next town's faucets," said Rebecca Wodder, president of AmericanRivers.Org. "And when it rains, sewage pours into those rivers, billions of gallons every year.
"Kids in America should be able to enjoy their neighbourhood creeks and rivers without playmates like salmonella, hepatitis and dysentery." The most threatened river identified was the Susquehanna, which starts in upstate New York, makes its way through Pennsylvania and then enters the Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the US and another severely polluted body of water.

Overseas, however, Coke still has that zip. It still has that trace of cocaine in it. Traveling folks notice that. Recently, Mexico President Vicente Fox, previously head of Coca-Cola for Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America, arranged to ship to the Mexican communities in Chicago and other large U.S. cities, Coke bottled in Mexico. The excuse? Mexicans preferred Coke in containers in Spanish. Bunk. Coke from Mexico like that overseas, reportedly has cocaine in its secret base.
