[This is a long entry. I couldn’t find one article I wanted. A local town police dept. three of the cops were indicted. According to the TV news the charges included kidnapping and assault.
Now you would think this would be a big story. The police kidnapping people?
Well if you think that is a big story, you are wrong. On the tv news I would say it got nearly precisely half the coverage of the Michael Jackson trial, or in other words, about as much time was spent on these rogue police as on a loop of shots of Michael jackson’s lawyer being taken out of the court on a stretcher.
The weatherman trying to defend his ridiculously inaccurate forecasts from yesterday got as much time or possibly more.
I looked on the website of the local paper, but couldn’t find an article there. I tried to look on the globe website, but it was not working for some reason.
Anyway, the rest of it is all interesting stuff.]

A new government was being installed in Kyrgyzstan following the collapse of President Askar Akayev rule, which folded on Thursday in the face of angry protests.

The next question in the AIG investigation should be: What exactly was the insurance company doing in the Caribbean?
Yesterday both The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal reported that investigators were looking into American International Group's actions in Barbados and other Caribbean Islands.
If you read my column last Thursday I suggested that's where the investigation should head next because Whitewater prosecutor Ken Starr was setting his sights on a company called Coral Reinsurance that was mysteriously connected to AIG The was right before Starr took a wrong turn and made his probe about sex. But here's what everyone is missing.
Starr wasn't investigating AIG He was looking into the Clintons, Arkansas and what that state was getting in return for bankrolling operations like Coral Re that it had no business funding.
My point: if investigators start peeling this onion, it could make a lot of people cry.

There were major problems, though. He modeled STRAIGHT after another program, creepily named "The Seed," shut down after the U.S. Congress literally issued a report in 1974 comparing it to "the highly refined 'brainwashing' techniques employed by the North Koreans." Sembler's imitation wasn't shut down until 1993 for illegal child abuse: beatings and sexual humiliation. Kids were thrown against walls. Or forced to sit in their own menstrual blood. Unless, of course, they were ready to cooperate, confess, and chant "I'm at STRAIGHT, feeling great" with the others. In that case they got to be the enforcers. Dozens of lawsuits exposed a similar picture in 12 clinics across America.
...
Bradbury knows his actions are not to be taken lightly. He is meddling with a man so powerful that Gov. Jeb Bush once named a "Betty Sembler Day" in Florida to honor his wife's ongoing, taxpayer-funded campaigns on behalf of workplace urine tests. And he has raised so much money for Republicans that men named George Bush make him an ambassador every time they become president. The Florida drug crusader and businessman was also the boss of the Bush campaign war chest in 2000, and now - improbably - the U.S. representative to Italy, where he has been in the news this month over the Iraq mess.
...
Says Bradbury of what happened inside: "You don't understand what they did to these kids. . . . They put stuff up my butt."
That part is over now. And yet Bradbury fights on. But when will Bradbury or other Sembler-bashers - like Wes Fager, a programmer who says his son suffered a mental collapse after attending a Virginia STRAIGHT - drop their grudges over lifelong psychological problems and so forth?
No time soon, perhaps. For the past two years, Bradbury has dug through Sembler's trash outside his St. Petersburg home. Set off by the story of an ongoing Death Row case involving a STRAIGHT teen who murdered a gay man after being spat on as a "faggot" in the program, Bradbury lashed out. He used eBay to post something he'd found on Sembler's sidewalk: a penis pump.
When a lawyer demanded he give it back, he demanded $700,000 instead. Bradbury, accused of stalking and intentional infliction of emotional damage, is still in court. He's hoping the ambassador will be forced to testify about STRAIGHT and be held accountable, though how likely that is remains unclear.

As a result of her 18-month stay at the St. Petersburg facility when she was 17, she still has nightmares, is fearful of counselors and has trouble dealing with her anger. Norton says she was battered and kept at the facility against her will.

More than half of these billionaires—341—are in the US, a jump of 69 over last year. In many cases, these structures are literally crumbling.
The US billionaires’ club this year has some familiar faces and some new ones, and the amounts pulled in by its members are staggering. Thirteen of the top 25 billionaires in the world are US citizens. New York City and its suburbs remain their residence of choice, boasting 44 of them.

[Gee, if only we knew everything that happened, all the time, everywhere. It would make it so much easier to figure out who is doing what.]
We need a network, or web, of sensors to better map a city and the activities in it, including inside buildings, to sort adversaries and their equipment from civilians and their equipment, including in crowds, and to spot snipers, suicide bombers, or IEDs (improvised explosive devices). We need to watch a great variety of things, activities, and people over a wide area and have great resolution available when we need it. And this is not just a matter of more and better sensors, but just as important, the systems needed to make actionable intelligence out of all the data. Closely related to this are tagging, tracking, and locating (TT&L) systems that help us watch and track a particular person or object of interest. These systems will also help us detect the clandestine production or possession of weapon of mass destruction in overseas urban areas. There was a recent incident in Iraq where one of our UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles] spotted some insurgents firing a mortar. Then the insurgents climbed back into their car and drove away. The good news was that the UAV was able to track the car so U.S. helicopters could go after it and destroy it. The bad news was that, at one point, some of the passengers got out. Then we had to decide whether to follow those individuals or the car because we simply did not have enough coverage available. If we’d had other sensors available, we would have had a better chance of getting all of those insurgents.
If we could quickly track-back where a vehicle came from, it would greatly help us deal with suicide car bombers. It is difficult, if not impossible, to deter the bombers themselves, just as you cannot deter a missile that has already been launched. But, one key to deterrence that has been missing is reliable attribution, or a “return address.” If we knew where the car came from, using, for example, RSTA [reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition] systems that allowed us to quickly trace the car carrying the explosives back to the house or shop it came from, we could

From January 2000 to July 2004, rainfall was excluded from a one-hectare (2.2
acre) plot in the middle of the Tapajos National Forest, in Brazil. A total of 6
feet of rainfall was diverted with six thousand 2' by 6' clear plastic panels
suspended 3 to 12 feet above the soil.
The panels were removed during the five-month dry season each year. To sort out
the forest responses to the "umbrellas" from the normal variation in
tree growth, tree death, leaf production, and other aspects of forest behavior,
researchers compared this dry plot of forest with a similar plot, from which
rainfall was not excluded.

[So they are saying that in 1999, in the sale of one weapons system alone they got $70M from China, but then between 2000 and 2002, say, they have only gotten $35M, or about $10M/year. Then from 2003 to the present, they have only gotten $20M from China, or again around $10M/year.
Those UAVs they sold to China in 1999 must have been made of solid gold.
By the way, the Lavi fighter they refer to, it was designed from cutting edge uS fighter jet technology at the time to help out the Israelis. But then they decided not to go ahead with productio of the jets, so to get some money back out of the project they sold on our cutting edge fighter jet technology to the Chinese, or so people say.
Notice the similarity to selling on the spy secrets gained from Jonathan Pollard.]
It sounds like an impressive accomplishment for the state, but a through examination in Israel reveals different numbers. Since 2000, Israel has sold to China, through 164 Israeli companies, defense equipment at an approximate value of only $35 million. Since 2003, when the U.S.-Israel mechanism for disclosure of weapons sales to China was set up, total sales from Israel to China have amounted to some $20 million.
The lesson is that one should take reports of the "professional" press with a grain of salt. This column will not talk about old transactions with China, except for the transaction that is now the bone of contention between Israel and the U.S. - the sale of about 100 Harpy combat UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) in 1999, for about $70 million. The Americans allege that Israel is also engaged in upgrading these UAVs, and that it concealed facts about the transaction from the U.S.

[In an invasion, even the sheep must die.]
Early Tuesday morning March 22, a Palestinian shepherd from At-Tuwani
discovered poison pellets spread over the hillside outside of the
Palestinian town of At-Tuwani in the South Hebron Hills. The shepherd
immediately summoned other people from the village including Christian
Peacemaker Team members Kim Lamberty and Luna Villota who are currently
living there.
"The pellets are small and turquoise blue, similar to rodent poison in the
United States," stated Lamberty. "They are spread under bushes and in the
grass, pretty much anywhere the sheep graze."
About 20 dunams of land is affected on the east side of the illegal Israeli
settlement outpost Havot Ma'on. The village shepherds did not see the
pellets on Monday and believe they were placed during the night. The
Israeli police were called and responded. They have taken samples of the
pellets for testing. The villagers were informed by the police that an
investigator from the settlement of Ma'on has been assigned to the case

US military involvement is not limited to the Middle East. The sending in of special forces in military policing operations, under the disguise of peace-keeping and training, is contemplated in all major regions of the World. A large part of these activities, however, will most probably be carried out by private mercenary companies on contract to the Pentagon, NATO or the United Nations. The military manpower requirements as well as the equipment are specialized.

[A commenter points out at the end of this article, that this guy is in the brainwashing business sort of, so he has in interest in promoting a belief in its efficacy. So that is something to keep in mind.
As with everything on this web log, I do not vouch for its accuracy. I only put it here because I think it is interesting, and so people can keep an eye out in the future to see if it does or not not correspond to reality. I always encourage everyone to check everything out and see if it is true or not.
I maye have pointed out this article before, but it is still interesting.]
The Birth of Conversion/Brainwashing in Christian Revivalism in 1735. The Pavlovian explanation of the three brain phases. Born-again preachers:Step-by-Step, how they conduct a revival and the expected physiological results. The "voice roll" technique used by preachers, lawyers and hypnotists.
New trance-inducing churches. The 6 steps to conversion. The decognition process. Thought-stopping techniques. The "sell it by zealot" technique. True believers and mass movements. Persuasion techniques: "Yes set," "Imbedded Commands," "Shock and Confusion," and the "Interspersal Technique."Subliminals. Vibrato and ELF waves. Inducing trance with vibrational sound.Even professional observers will be "possessed" at charismatic gatherings. The "only hope" technique to attend and not be converted. Non-detectable Neurophone programming through the skin. The medium for mass take-over.
So, to begin, I want to state the most basic of all facts about brainwashing: IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF MAN, NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN BRAINWASHED AND REALIZED, OR BELIEVED, THAT HE HAD BEEN BRAINWASHED. Those who have been brainwashed will usually passionately defend their manipulators, claiming they have simply been "shown the light" . . . or have been transformed in miraculous ways.
...
A repetitive beat, ideally ranging from 45 to 72 beats per minute (a rhythm close to the beat of the human heart), is very hypnotic and can generate an eyes-open altered state of consciousness in a very high percentage of people. And, once you are in an alpha state, you are at least 25 times as suggestible as you would be in full beta consciousness.
...
A "voice roll" is a patterned, paced style used by hypnotists when inducing a trance. It is also used by many lawyers, several of whom are highly trained hypnotists, when they desire to entrench a point firmly in the minds of the jurors. A voice roll can sound as if the speaker were talking to the beat of a metronome or it may sound as though he were emphasizing every word in a monotonous, patterned style. The words will usually be delivered at the rate of 45 to 60 beats per minute, maximizing the hypnotic effect.

A man in Los Angeles is designing, building, and reworking a lot of churches around the country. He tells ministers what they need and how to use it. This man's track record indicates that the congregation and the monetary income will double if the minister follows his instructions. He admits that about 80 percent of his efforts are in the sound system and lighting.
...
Follow-up sessions might be weekly meetings or inexpensive seminars given on a regular basis which the organization will attempt to talk you into taking--or any regularly scheduled event used to maintain control. As the early Christian revivalists found, long-term control is dependent upon a good follow-up system.
Alright. Now, let's look at the second tip-off that indicates conversion tactics are being used. A schedule is maintained that causes physical and mental fatigue. This is primarily accomplished by long hours in which the participants are given no opportunity for relaxation or reflection.
The third tip-off: techniques used to increase the tension in the room or environment.
...
Before I go on, let's go back to the six tip-offs to conversion. I want to mention the United States Government and military boot camp. The Marine Corps talks about breaking men down before "rebuilding" them as new men--as marines! Well, that is exactly what they do, the same way a cult breaks its people down and rebuilds them as happy flower sellers on your local street corner. Every one of the six conversion techniques are used in boot camp. Considering the needs of the military, I'm not making a judgment as to whether that is good or bad. IT IS A FACT that the men are effectively brainwashed. Those who won't submit must be discharged or spend much of their time in the brig.
...
But you might also watch for what are called Imbedded Commands. As an example: On key words, the speaker would make a gesture with his left hand, which research has shown is more apt to access your right brain. Today's media-oriented politicians and spellbinders are often carefully trained by a whole new breed of specialist who are using every trick in the book--both old and new--to manipulate you into accepting their candidate.
...
Another technique that I'm just learning about is unbelievably slippery; it is called an INTERSPERSAL TECHNIQUE and the idea is to say one thing with words but plant a subconscious impression of something else in the minds of the listeners and/or watchers.
...
I have personally experienced sitting in a Los Angeles auditorium with over ten thousand people who were gathered to listen to a current charismatic figure. Twenty minutes after entering the auditorium, I became aware that I was going in and out of an altered state. Those accompanying me experienced the same thing. Since it is our business, we were aware of what was happening, but those around us were not. By careful observation, what appeared to be spontaneous demonstrations were, in fact, artful manipulations. The only way I could figure that the eyes-open trance had been induced was that a 6- to 7-cycle-per-second vibration was being piped into the room behind the air conditioner sound. That particular vibration generates alpha, which would render the audience highly susceptible. Ten to 25 percent of the population is capable of a somnambulistic level of altered states of consciousness; for these people, the suggestions of the speaker, if non-threatening, could potentially be accepted as "commands."
Vibrato
This leads to the mention of VIBRATO. Vibrato is the tremulous effect imparted in some vocal or instrumental music, and the cycle-per-second range causes people to go into an altered state of consciousness. At one period of English history, singers whose voices contained pronounced vibrato were not allowed to perform publicly because listeners would go into an altered state and have fantasies, often sexual in nature.
People who attend opera or enjoy listening to singers like Mario Lanza are familiar with this altered state induced by the performers.
...
Dr. Patrick Flanagan is a personal friend of mine. In the early 1960s, as a teenager, Pat was listed as one of the top scientists in the world by "Life" magazine. Among his many inventions was a device he called the Neurophone--an electronic instrument that can successfully program suggestions directly through contact with the skin. When he attempted to patent the device, the government demanded that he prove it worked. When he did, the National Security Agency confiscated the neurophone. It took Pat two years of legal battle to get his invention back.
In using the device, you don't hear or see a thing; it is applied to the skin, which Pat claims is the source of special senses. The skin contains more sensors for heat, touch, pain, vibration, and electrical fields than any other part of the human anatomy.
In one of his recent tests, Pat conducted two identical seminars for a military audience--one seminar one night and one the next night, because the size of the room was not large enough to accommodate all of them at one time. When the first group proved to be very cool and unwilling to respond, Patrick spent the next day making a special tape to play at the second seminar. The tape instructed the audience to be extremely warm and responsive and for their hands to become "tingly." The tape was played through the neurophone, which was connected to a wire he placed along the ceiling of the room. There were no speakers, so no sound could be heard, yet the message was successfully transmitted from that wire directly into the brains of the audience. They were warm and receptive, their hands tingled and they responded, according to programming, in other ways that I cannot mention here.

[I seem to recall some one of the warlord’s in Somalia was ex-US military as well.]
WARLORD KILLED IN CHECHNYA WAS EX-U.S. MARINE
MOSCOW, March 24. (RIA Novosti)-Rizvan Chitigov, who was killed in the district center Shali in Chechnya on Wednesday and was the third most influential warlord after Shamil Basayev and Doku Umarov, had graduated from an elite U.S. subversion and reconnaissance school and had served on a contract basis in a U.S. Marine battalion, Kommersant reports.
Marine dog tags indicating his name, and date and place of birth, were discovered on his body.
In the early 1990s, Chitigov went to America using the assistance of an international Muslim fund, which had a mission in Chechnya. Returning to Shali in 1994, he told his compatriots that he could have forged a career in the U.S. Navy (and was subsequently called "the American" after that), but a warlord, Khattab, persuaded him to return to his native republic.
Chitigov initially fought under Khattab and commanded the only tank battalion the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria had. He began the second Chechen campaign in Grozny but later escaped to the mountains and Georgia. Operational information acquired in summer 2001 said he was planning to use chemical and bacteriological weapons against federal forces. Soon "the American's" secret base with a batch of homemade ricin was found. This is when Chitigov received his second alias, "the Chemist."
Several days ago, the security services intercepted a mobile telephone conversation and established where Chitigov could be hiding after spending the winter in Baku. A three-room flat was checked three times, but nobody was found. But when the security service officers were leaving the flat the fourth time, they heard a noise.
It turned out that Chitigov had spent over three days in a small niche in a wall masked by tiles. The terrorist was in a hurry to leave the flat and dropped a tiled panel on the floor. He opened fire at the policemen who rushed back into the flat but missed and was killed by return fire.

The Straight therapeutic concept of addicts helping addicts by shouting brutal indictments at one another was developed in 1958 in Ocean Park, California (the poor side of Santa Monica) by a college dropout and recovering alcoholic named Chuck Dederich. His organization, called Synanon Foundation, treated recovering heroin addicts. You can't con a con, telling your dirty story, confession, parent weekend, anal/vaginal searches, verbal shouting matches, synamasters, no newcomer contact with parents, parents taking someone else's kids to the doctor, warehouses, kids cussing, thought control, beatings--it all came from Synanon Church.
...
There came a time when all men over 18 (except Chuck Dederick) were "gamed" into being sterilized by Synanon doctors, and all pregnant women were gamed into aborting their children. The Game was used to persuade parishioners to exchange wives in evening auctions called Changing Partners.
...
Despite the fact that the only way Synanon Church could keep addicts off drugs was to keep them at Synanon forever--that is Synanon was a cult--and despite Synanon's sordid past--Synanon was a violent cult--the idea of the synanon or Game became the basis for a new breed of therapy where the addict himself helps in his own recovery just as Chinese thought reform students help in their own recovery.

CONFRONTING EXECUTIVE BRANCH PROPAGANDA ACTIVITIES
The Bush Administration's repeated use of taxpayer funds to engage
in unacknowledged public relations advocacy in possible violation
of laws that are supposed to constrain such activity is the subject
of a detailed Congressional Research Service analysis, newly
updated this week and obtained by Secrecy News.
See "Public Relations and Propaganda: Restrictions on Executive
Agency Activities," updated March 21, 2005:
http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/RL32750.pdf
Last month, the Comptroller General issued a legal opinion stating
that "several prepackaged news stories produced and distributed by
certain government agencies violated [the] prohibition" on the use
of appropriated funds for purposes of "publicity or propaganda."
See:
http://www.gao.gov/decisions/appro/304272.htm
But two weeks ago, a White House memo rebutted that opinion with a
Justice Department memo declaring that "simply because an agency's
role in producing and disseminating information is undisclosed or
'covert'" does not mean that it is propaganda prohibited by law.
"Our view is that the prohibition [against propaganda] does not
apply where there is no advocacy of a particular viewpoint, and
therefore it does not apply to the legitimate provision of
information concerning the programs administered by an agency," the
White House stated.
The March 11 White House memo from Joshua B. Bolten of the Office of
Management and Budget, with an attachment from the Justice
Department Office of Legal Counsel, was first cited by the New York
Times on March 13 and reported in detail in the Washington Post on
March 15. A copy is here:

What, then, are future generations to think of the concept that individual
members of a densely overpopulated species can claim unchallenged ownership of
large sections of the earth, to nurture or destroy as they see fit? Considering
the conflict between a finite planet and the infinite expansion of Homo Sapiens,
does it make any more sense for people to be able to own pieces of the world
than it does for people to own other people? If the concept of private ownership
were followed to its logical extreme, it would be possible for one fabulously

More than half of these billionaires—341—are in the US, a jump of 69 over last year. But while the ranks, and personal fortunes, of these super-rich has risen, there has been a corresponding deterioration of the basic infrastructure relied upon by ordinary Americans in their everyday life—roads, railroads, public schools, and other basic necessities.

Is DC doing one thing about it? Doesn’t sound like it....Well maybe they are using him to bolster their case for a war with Iran.]
An Iranian exile accused Tehran on Thursday of secretly purifying uranium for use in nuclear weapons at a recently-constructed underground facility at a military complex called Parchin. "Iran (news - web sites) has completed an underground tunnel-like facility in Parchin, which is now engaged in laser enrichment," said Alireza Jafarzadeh, an Iranian exile who has reported accurately in the past about hidden atomic facilities in Iran.

As the former spokesman for the Iranian exile group, the National Coalition of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Jafarzadeh revealed in August 2002 information about two hidden sites in Iran -- an underground uranium enrichment at Natanz and a heavy-water production plant at Arak.

The United States, which lists the NCRI as a terrorist organization, has shut down the NCRI's Washington offices. Jafarzadeh now runs a think-thank there called Strategic Policy Consulting, Inc.

These two forest plots were compared for a year prior to installation of the
plastic panels to register any differences in behavior that already existed when
we began the experiment.
....
This finding has important implications for climate change since the amount of
carbon removed from the atmosphere during tropical droughts will decrease
significantly.
In addition, there are implications for sustainable forest management, because
the time one must wait after harvesting timber from a forest before a second
harvest will increase

Instead, Cohen said he planned to drive to a park where the two could "talk about sex" and get "comfortable," which would include playing "show and tell" to "satisfy the curiosity and put a flesh on the fantasy," the compaint said. That included letting the boy touch Cohen's penis if he wanted to, the complaint said.

As governor of Texas George W. Bush has collaborated with Straight Foundation, Inc. (now calling itself Drug Free America Foundation, Inc.) on one drug awareness initiative. Now listen to his dad, former President George H. W. Bush, making a TV commercial for Straight from the Oval Office.
...
When Ronald Reagan campaigned in Florida, Nancy had been accompanied around by the wife of Straight's Donald McDonald, when George Bush campaigned in Florida he slept at the home of Straight co-founder Mel Sembler. After his 1987 election George Bush placed millionaire and Straight board member Alec Courtelis (who had been the national finance co-chairman for the Bush campaign) in charge of a nationwide search for talent for the new administration.(8) On December 6, 1988 Florida's Republican governor Bob Martinez called on George Bush and later had lunch with Straight's co-founders Sembler and Zappala.(9) Bush made Sembler and Zappala ambassadors to Australia and Spain, respectively.
...
There was lumber magnate Peter Secchia nominated for ambassador to Italy who once reportedly told a reporter that his reason for being at the 1987 Republican state conference in Michigan was that he was looking for "a big-titted woman".
...
Republican Congressman Frank Wolf was surely unaware when he sent this "put the heat on" letter to Virginia state health authorities wanting to know why they had denied Straight a license in 1991. He was surely unaware of the mounting allegations included the sexual abuse of a minor male child, the assault of a female client who says her old comers raped her with a curling iron for not writing her morale inventory, the breaking of a girl's finger because she refused to admit to a drug problem she did not have, and a bizarre treatment therapy conducted at Straight-Springfield where the kids spat into the face of a newcomer to keep him off of drugs.
