RED ALERT! AMERICAN COMBAT TROOPS IN NOW IN ISRAEL

As a daily reader and a rare contributor of the Fivedoves, I felt an obligation and duty to tell you about a FIRST HAND experience of an incident that occurred yesterday here in Eretz Israel. This is not a " word of mouth story" or a grapevine rumor; we actually saw this - not 10 feet away from our own eyes. We were out in the Negev desert and as we approached the mountain pass to the Wilderness of Zin, I noticed what I first thought was "a very long and bright green snake" winding its way down another mountain road. By the time that we arrived at the junction this "long green snake" had become a huge combat army convoy that was passing in front of our eyes not more than 10 feet away.
At first I marveled at the bright flashy new uniforms of the soldiers, their brand new weapons and huge brand new transport humvees all in new bright green forest camouflage that filed past us at the junction. Mile after mile they slowly inched past us. Nobody could enter the highway because of his or her multitude. Then I began to think, hey, what's going on? We Israeli's, don't have flashy new equipment or uniforms for our army and we cannot afford all the latest gadgets of war. Then at closer scrutiny I noticed that the soldiers wore the new "nazi" helmet of the American combat soldier. I then noticed good ol' American boys: blacks, whites, Puerto Ricans, sitting in the humvees. I then looked at the nametags on the trucks and humvees and sure enough they were IDF (Israel Defense Force) numbers and letters. Ocassionly an IDF jeep would pass us in the convoy; older sand camouflage vehicles with real Israeli soldiers in the jeeps.
In other words this convoy was trying to hide its real identity, but stuck out like the proverbial sore thumb. This convoy contained an enormous number of American soldiers and was carrying a very heavy load and stretched for many miles across the desert. They had no American Identity to the equipment, no American symbols or names or emblems. Maybe they are here to help with the disengagement, we don't know.
We have even heard rumors that German policemen with war-horses (what a horrific irony if this is true) would be employed to help remove the Jew from their homes. Pray for our tiny country here, we are in the middle of a spiritual battle to actually lose the Jewish homeland if Almighty God of our fathers does not intervene. We have lost Gaza and Gush Katif, we have lost Judea and the Galilee, we are losing the Negev and now it looks like all of the Eastern Jerusalem is being planned to be returned to the Arabs. We are now surrounded by enemies. I think of the Psalm 3 of King David that even if we are surrounded by 10,000 of the enemy we will not be afraid, because God is with us. WE all know the glorious end!

Protesters from San Francisco are driving to the area Saturday morning to confront the Minutemen. They say the militia is nothing more than a hate group.
The Minutemen say they're doing a public service.

After the tragedy hit the newspaper, grief stricken people called the local radio station to give voice to their pain. One woman uttered, through her tears, "He died for our freedom."
He died for our freedom? Perhaps I have been sufficiently dumbed down, but, as I stumble around in my flouride induced fog, I wish someone would help me understand how killing innocent people in Iraq (and Afganistan) is keeping us free? What has sending soldiers to be poisoned and to die have to do with "keeping us free?." In my lexicon of logic, the belief that "he died for our freedom " is just about as meaningless as "support our troops."

In 2004, he wanted to add mandatory minimum penalties to non-violent drug offenses (one example: a five year mandatory minimum sentence for passing a joint to someone who had been in a treatment center.)

Indonesian scientists have placed 11 volcanoes under close watch after a series of powerful quakes awoke intense subterranean forces and increased the chances of a major eruption.

The Government is misleading the public on the true level of crime in Britain by instructing police forces not to record many offences, while simultaneously logging crimes in which nobody is convicted or even taken to court as "detected"

In fact, under the counting rules definition, it means only that the police have an idea of who may have carried out the crime and usually have enough evidence to charge him or her. It does not correspond to the number of people convicted, or even to those appearing in court. But not everyone shared Gen. Kernan's rosy assessment. It was sharply criticized by the straight-talking Marine commander who had been brought out of retirement to lead Force Red. His name was Lt. Thousands of previously illegible manuscripts containing work by some of the greats of classical literature are being read for the first time using technology which experts believe will unlock the secrets of the ancient world.
Among treasures already discovered by a team from Oxford University are previously unseen writings by classical giants including Sophocles, Euripides and Hesiod. Invisible under ordinary light, the faded ink comes clearly into view when placed under infra-red light, using techniques developed from satellite imaging.
The Oxford documents form part of the great papyrus hoard salvaged from an ancient rubbish dump in the Graeco-Egyptian town of Oxyrhynchus more than a century ago. The thousands of remaining documents, which will be analysed over the next decade, are expected to include works by Ovid and Aeschylus, plus a series of Christian gospels which have been lost for up to 2,000 years.

One very recent example out of many is the comic-book styled action film "Sin City." Here, many of the villains are sporting multiple crucifixion crosses, a symbol held sacred by many Christians, and mixed in with a smattering of swastikas. Indeed, the film's arch-villain turns out to be a satanic, cannibalistic Catholic cardinal! OK, this is fictional 'entertainment' but Hollywood knows these scenarios have a visceral, even subliminal, impact. That's basically why we don't see any Hollywood-fabricated demons and bad guys sporting a Star of David nor do we see any rabid psychopathic rabbis dished up for popular entertainment.
The unspoken code of Tinseltown is simple: Jewish archetypes and Jewish religious sensitivities are to be respected. Others may be casually smeared.
Although Catholics and Arabs are expected to survive this non-lethal, but inherently pernicious onslaught, considering the laudatory treatment Hollywood's Jews regularly heap upon themselves when portraying their brethren, it's becoming a bit of an outrage, as it should. How is it that Jews, Arabs and Christians receive such different treatment under Hollywood's gaze?

The FBI is investigating after a mysterious white powder was sent to the IRS mail room in Fresno.

One female detainee, who identified herself as “Noor”, said that U.S. soldiers at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib raped women and, in many occasions, forced them to strip naked in public. She also said that many female detainees got pregnant.

Between 3,000 and 5,000 women have been smuggled into Israel in the past four years to work as prostitutes, according to a parliamentary inquiry.
The report described how the women are sold at public auctions for as much as $10,000 and forced to work up to 18 hours a day.
On average the women receive only three percent of the money they earn from prostitution, the report said.
Most of the women are from the former Soviet Union.

This fascinating essay, written by King Hussein's grandfather King Abdullah, appeared in the United States six months before the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In the article, King Abdullah disputes the mistaken view that Arab opposition to Zionism (and later the state of Israel) is because of longstanding religious or ethnic hatred. He notes that Jews and Muslims enjoyed a long history of peaceful coexistence in the Middle East, and that Jews have historically suffered far more at the hands of Christian Europe.
Pointing to the tragedy of the holocaust that Jews suffered during World War II, the monarch asks why America and Europe are refusing to accept more than a token handful of Jewish immigrants and refugees. It is unfair, he argues, to make Palestine, which is innocent of anti-Semitism, pay for the crimes of Europe.

Most people who have thought about it believe in one of the first two solutions. I was just at the market on my way back from getting a haircut, and spotted these tags hanging at the checkstand. I was, needless to say, offended by these. Not only is this a shameless come on for one specific brand of battery, but the placard to which these tags were affixed specifies that the batteries are for night vision systems, and other electronics used in the war.
Bush is spending $5 billion a month in Iraq. Money that our grandchildren will be be paying off at interest. Can't they buy a few batteries?

The Angolan Ministry of Health has announced that the death toll from the epidemic of Marburg hemorrhagic fever has jumped to 233 from a total of 255 cases recorded in Angola until Saturday.
According to a press release issued here by the ministry on Sunday, all the reported cases of the Ebola-like disease had originated in the northwestern province of Uige, though patients have died elsewhere, including Luanda, Zaire, Malange, Kuangza Norte, Kuanza South and Cabinda provinces.

The United States has frozen Israel out of the development of a prestigious jet fighter as punishment for its military cooperation with China, Israeli defense industry executives said Sunday.
The executives said the American decision was related to displeasure over Israeli arms deals with China, including its work on Harpy unmanned drones, acquired by China from state-owned Israel Aircraft Industries in the early 1990s. The U.S. fears the Harpys could be deployed during a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, which Washington has pledged to defend.
The executives spoke on condition of anonymity, citing the sensitivity of the matter.

The travails of Mordechai Vanunu continue.
Last week, the Israeli government indicted the former nuclear technician on 22 counts of violating restrictions it had imposed upon him last April. A hearing date has not yet been announced.
During the past year Vanunu has openly defied the Israeli authorities. Indeed, on the very day, last spring, when he completed his 18 year sentence for treason, Vanunu walked out of Ashkelon prison to the cheers of his supporters and immediately violated the governmentís restrictions by issuing a press statement on the nuclear issue.
Who would have guessed that this brave man would not only survive 18 years in a 6X9 foot windowless cell, eleven and a half of them in solitary confinement, not to mention near-continuous harassment by his handlers, but would emerge unbowed and unbroken, as plucky as ever? As it turns out, though, it may be the public that needs a refresher course on the role of its military forces. If they find something amiss, they have resources to deploy in response that no law enforcement agency could dream of. They've got an army, a navy, an air force, the Marines, and the Coast Guard.

The seeds of deflation have been visible for some time now. Zero down/0% financing schemes for car and house purchases not only lower the initial cost of purchase, but also increase the likelihood that these assets will come to market again at vastly discounted prices as unqualified buyers are forced to liquidate them because they can't keep up with their monthly payments. Mega discounters such as Wal-Mart exploit cheap Chinese products and labor for the ostensible 'benefit' of consumers, but end up putting domestic manufacturers and retailers out of business, causing unemployment. Wal-Mart may create some new jobs, but they are fewer and at lower wages than the jobs they destroy - a deflationary trend. While the housing market is still inflating rapidly and approaching mania status, the seeds of deflation are being sown here as well. For an idea of what this market will look like in 5-10 years, one need only look at the chart pattern drawn out by the Nasdaq over the from 1995-2005. Trees don't grow to the sky.

As a daily reader and a rare contributor of the Fivedoves, I felt an obligation and duty to tell you about a FIRST HAND experience of an incident that occurred yesterday here in Eretz Israel. This is not a " word of mouth story" or a grapevine rumor; we actually saw this - not 10 feet away from our own eyes. We were out in the Negev desert and as we approached the mountain pass to the Wilderness of Zin, I noticed what I first thought was "a very long and bright green snake" winding its way down another mountain road. By the time that we arrived at the junction this "long green snake" had become a huge combat army convoy that was passing in front of our eyes not more than 10 feet away.
At first I marveled at the bright flashy new uniforms of the soldiers, their brand new weapons and huge brand new transport humvees all in new bright green forest camouflage that filed past us at the junction. Mile after mile they slowly inched past us. Nobody could enter the highway because of his or her multitude. Then I began to think, hey, what's going on? We Israeli's, don't have flashy new equipment or uniforms for our army and we cannot afford all the latest gadgets of war. Then at closer scrutiny I noticed that the soldiers wore the new "nazi" helmet of the American combat soldier. I then noticed good ol' American boys: blacks, whites, Puerto Ricans, sitting in the humvees. I then looked at the nametags on the trucks and humvees and sure enough they were IDF (Israel Defense Force) numbers and letters. Ocassionly an IDF jeep would pass us in the convoy; older sand camouflage vehicles with real Israeli soldiers in the jeeps.
In other words this convoy was trying to hide its real identity, but stuck out like the proverbial sore thumb. This convoy contained an enormous number of American soldiers and was carrying a very heavy load and stretched for many miles across the desert. They had no American Identity to the equipment, no American symbols or names or emblems. Maybe they are here to help with the disengagement, we don't know.
We have even heard rumors that German policemen with war-horses (what a horrific irony if this is true) would be employed to help remove the Jew from their homes. Pray for our tiny country here, we are in the middle of a spiritual battle to actually lose the Jewish homeland if Almighty God of our fathers does not intervene. We have lost Gaza and Gush Katif, we have lost Judea and the Galilee, we are losing the Negev and now it looks like all of the Eastern Jerusalem is being planned to be returned to the Arabs. We are now surrounded by enemies. I think of the Psalm 3 of King David that even if we are surrounded by 10,000 of the enemy we will not be afraid, because God is with us. WE all know the glorious end!

Perhaps I have been sufficiently dumbed down, but, as I stumble around in my flouride induced fog, I wish someone would help me understand how killing innocent people in Iraq (and Afganistan) is keeping us free? The Government is misleading the public on the true level of crime in Britain by instructing police forces not to record many offences, while simultaneously logging crimes in which nobody is convicted or even taken to court as "detected"

Thousands of previously illegible manuscripts containing work by some of the greats of classical literature are being read for the first time using technology which experts believe will unlock the secrets of the ancient world.
Among treasures already discovered by a team from Oxford University are previously unseen writings by classical giants including Sophocles, Euripides and Hesiod. Invisible under ordinary light, the faded ink comes clearly into view when placed under infra-red light, using techniques developed from satellite imaging.
The Oxford documents form part of the great papyrus hoard salvaged from an ancient rubbish dump in the Graeco-Egyptian town of Oxyrhynchus more than a century ago. The thousands of remaining documents, which will be analysed over the next decade, are expected to include works by Ovid and Aeschylus, plus a series of Christian gospels which have been lost for up to 2,000 years.

One very recent example out of many is the comic-book styled action film "Sin City." Here, many of the villains are sporting multiple crucifixion crosses, a symbol held sacred by many Christians, and mixed in with a smattering of swastikas. Between 3,000 and 5,000 women have been smuggled into Israel in the past four years to work as prostitutes, according to a parliamentary inquiry.
The report described how the women are sold at public auctions for as much as $10,000 and forced to work up to 18 hours a day.
On average the women receive only three percent of the money they earn from prostitution, the report said.

This fascinating essay, written by King Hussein's grandfather King Abdullah, appeared in the United States six months before the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In the article, King Abdullah disputes the mistaken view that Arab opposition to Zionism (and later the state of Israel) is because of longstanding religious or ethnic hatred. The Angolan Ministry of Health has announced that the death toll from the epidemic of Marburg hemorrhagic fever has jumped to 233 from a total of 255 cases recorded in Angola until Saturday.

The United States has frozen Israel out of the development of a prestigious jet fighter as punishment for its military cooperation with China, Israeli defense industry executives said Sunday.
The executives said the American decision was related to displeasure over Israeli arms deals with China, including its work on Harpy unmanned drones, acquired by China from state-owned Israel Aircraft Industries in the early 1990s. The U.S. fears the Harpys could be deployed during a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, which Washington has pledged to defend.

Last week, the Israeli government indicted the former nuclear technician on 22 counts of violating restrictions it had imposed upon him last April. A hearing date has not yet been announced.
During the past year Vanunu has openly defied the Israeli authorities. Indeed, on the very day, last spring, when he completed his 18 year sentence for treason, Vanunu walked out of Ashkelon prison to the cheers of his supporters and immediately violated the governmentís restrictions by issuing a press statement on the nuclear issue.
Who would have guessed that this brave man would not only survive 18 years in a 6X9 foot windowless cell, eleven and a half of them in solitary confinement, not to mention near-continuous harassment by his handlers, but would emerge unbowed and unbroken, as plucky as ever? The seeds of deflation have been visible for some time now. Zero down/0% financing schemes for car and house purchases not only lower the initial cost of purchase, but also increase the likelihood that these assets will come to market again at vastly discounted prices as unqualified buyers are forced to liquidate them because they can't keep up with their monthly payments. While the housing market is still inflating rapidly and approaching mania status, the seeds of deflation are being sown here as well. Some 40 percent of the 640 taxi and bus drivers surveyed by Lima's San Marcos University suffered from psychological problems and showed psychopathic tendencies, such as aggressive, anxious and antisocial behavior, the study said.
